We could have cruised home from Anacortes in a day, but why rush? Instead, we stayed at Cap Sante Marina for three days visiting friends, buying supplies, and having a look around our old home town.
Our next stop was overnight in Oak Harbor. There’s not a lot to do there, but the marina folks are friendly and the diesel is (relatively) cheap.
The final night of our “northern cruise” was at the newly-refurbished Everett Marina. The city should be proud of its work. The marina facilities are top notch, and there are restaurants, pubs, entertainment, and marine services within steps of the docks.
Speaking of Everett, that’s the former Weyerhaeuser company office above, now relocated to the waterfront and doing business as a coffee shop and wine bar. Let’s take a look inside.
Hmm… Since I started with Everett, I guess we’re going to work backwards. Here are a few things that interested me during our overnight stay in Oak Harbor.

The trip was 44 days – 6 weeks and 2 days.
During that time, we ran the engine 89 hours.
Our average speed is about 7.5 knots, so we travelled about 670 nautical miles.
That would be 771 miles or 1241km.
Wow, that’s a long journey by boat. Glad you had (mostly) great weather for it, other than the days that required you to bypass us. As we would have loved to have seen you.
You guys have had quite the odyssey. It will be lovely to see you in a few more weeks! Thanks for sharing your many adventures.

Sorry to have just missed you! Wolf and I visited 7 parks, two restaurants–in one, I witnessed a sailboat transaction–and celebrated a 70th birthday or two. Howled at the full moon!!
Back now in Portland, I’m glad you are home, too! Thanks for the mileage report!
Oh, and Weyerhauser put me through my first 4 years at UW. Glad to see their old office!
