There are a few marinas along the coast where all you need to do is say the name and people know where you’re going. Pierre’s in the Broughtons is one, John Henry’s in Pender Harbour is another.
We’re here for a few days because we’ve had enough 30 knot winds for this season. Traveling in the Strait of Georgia under those conditions ranges from uncomfortable to dangerous. Thanks, but no thanks. We’d prefer to be at the Grasshopper Pub waiting for the weather to settle.
Later, the next day…
Since we’re enjoying John Henry’s hospitality for a while, we decided to get some exercise. While walking to Garden Bay Provincial Park, we met Lynne.
Lynne is an interesting person. She’s lived in the Cook Islands, both Rarotonga and Aitutaki. Also various points on the Baja, and Barbados. She brought her cat, Tally, back to Canada from Rarotonga.
You might not be surprised to learn that Lynne painted her house trim bright pink.
I hope the wind dies down soon. In the mean time you can try the shark bite ice cream and report back to us!
Perhaps the locked building is an Native American or Boy Scout Order of the Arrow longhouse!?
Potlatch and/or party storage? Where the cans of paint are kept?
I am amazed how colorful all the little buildings are. And Lynne. And the flowers.
And the Kayaks! And the fence with paddles! I feel a sense of . . . pride!
