Hubbell Trading Post
We all know about Trading Posts, right? They pop up in Western movies all the time. Well, this is a real one and it’s still in operation after almost 200 years.
These days, they only trade their goods for money. So don’t think about bringing in the squirrel you hit on the highway and trying to pass it off as a mink pelt or something.
The Hubbell Trading Post is also a National Monument. The above photo is the Monument headquarters; the building below is part of the trading post.

Have you heard of the Navajo Code Talkers? They were a group who served in the US Army during the Second World War. They used Navajo words to represent letters of the alphabet and some phrases to send confidential messages. The Germans were never able to break the code.

Springerville, AZ
We spent a night in Springerville on our way back to Scottsdale from Canyon de Chelly. What’s special about the place? Nothing. And everything. Springerville is like thousands of other small towns in America. Ordinary at first glance, but able to show you something fun or interesting when you pay attention.

Anna Sui at the Phoenix Art Museum
As you know, we love the Phoenix Art Museum. Every time we visit, there are one or two new exhibits. This time, we came to see Richard Avadon’s photos of the stars, and got Anna Sui’s wild fashions as a bonus.
