We left Bainbridge Island in the fog and flew to a sunny 98 degree (37c) Phoenix afternoon. Still looking for macro photography practice, I walked the grounds of our condo complex looking for tiny flowers.
I’ve mentioned “depth of field” before. It means roughly “how deep is the range of objects that will be in focus.” In macro photography where you are just a few inches from your subject, getting the right depth of field is both critical and difficult. If you look closely at these flower photos, you’ll see many examples where the depth of field is too shallow. That is, part of the flower is in focus, but other parts that should be are not.
Practice, practice, practice.
