This bustling peninsula in False Creek attracts millions of visitors every year, and rightly so. Where once heavy industries belched noxious fumes, there’s now artisanal breweries, top comedy clubs, an array of street entertainment, and a lively market overflowing with fresh and tempting local produce.

We arrived at Pelican Bay Marina on Granville Island today after weaving our way through a maze of small public transport boats that I call “water bugs.” We traveled from Bowen Island with Peter and Ann, who will be with us for two days before we part company.
Before we take a look around the island, let me show you what seems to be the last remaining bit of industrial activity, the concrete factory. It, too, has been beautified.

Now, let’s see how Vancouverites enjoy a warm summer afternoon. This will involve a few flower photos.

Finally, a little food for thought.
The pathway along False Creek is decorated with banners celebrating Canada Day. This one expresses an attitude of tolerance and inclusion sadly lacking in Trump’s America.
