Boat Passage

Boat Passage

Here we are in Winter Cove on Saturna Island. The only other time I’ve been here, we arrived by ferry to ride bikes around the island. Saturna was the last of the major Gulf Islands for us to ride. There’s always at least one hill that makes you wish you’d stayed home. Saturna was no exception.

We made the one hour cruise from Otter Bay this morning and headed for shore to stretch our legs. The short loop trail to Boat Passage was just the ticket.

The main entrance to Winter Cove is in the center of the photo, Étude is somewhere in the crowd on the left.
This is Boat Passage, the other way in or out. Not very wide is it? Attention to the current is advised.
That’s the Boat Passage outflow in the foreground. The tip of the dark peninsula to the right in the background is Point Roberts, a sliver of the United States that can only be reached by land via Canada.
Mount Baker in Washington.
