Cactus Flowers at Last

We always enjoy returning to the Desert Botanical Garden. There’s something new to see every time; sometimes art, sometimes butterflies, sometimes flowers. Although we aren’t at Peak Cactus Flower yet, there were enough blooms to inspire a pair of blog posts. Maybe you’ll see more in a week or two.

In the mean time, I had a chance to do more macro photography. Practice, practice, practice.

Full disclosure: not every flowering plant in these photos is a cactus. But who can resist a pretty flower?

Someday these little nubs will be flowers.
Cacti are not big on symmetry.
The Ocatillo says, “Look, I can grow leaves!”

This labyrinth, made of cloth banners, is intended to promote climate change awareness. A worthy goal, to be sure. Too bad that maybe forty percent of visitors don’t believe climate change is a thing.
