Yachting 2026.1

Yachting 2026.1

We cast off from home on a Thursday morning with a goal of reaching Yellow Point Lodge by Sunday. Our plan was to spend the first night at Port Townsend, and the next two at Sidney on Vancouver Island, before arriving at the lodge.

You can plan your route, and you can account for the current, but you can only anticipate the weather. It’s hard to know what to expect at this time of year. If conditions on the Strait of Juan de Fuca were bad, our plan would have been ruined.

We passed Point Wilson lighthouse as we left Port Townsend at 6:00 Friday morning. Sea conditions for the crossing were ideal.
We stopped at Chemanius on Sunday morning for coffee and pastries before arriving at Yellow Point. The murals are a popular attraction.
Étude enjoys a four day rest while we slept ashore at the lodge.
Mother and babies stroll unconcerned past our cabin.
This sapling offers a guide for living. You can start out on the wrong path, but eventually figure out the right way to go.
After two pints of Guinness at the Crow and Gate Pub, I got “artistic”.

Your happy place!

I love the pictures–AND your captions. Energetic groups in boats, distant lighthouses, deer families, wall murals (including trains), and “Stout Flowers”. All very artistic and appreciated!

Love, MEB
