I don’t have a lot to say about this exhibit other than I found it interesting. I think you can see how native culture is reflected in many of these works.

From a distance, this painting reminded me of the pointillist style seen in Australian Aboriginal art. On closer examination, the technique was something quite different. It seems that the artist painted areas of color, then overpainted with white, then scraped away the white paint to expose small bits of color.

For the record, I know that this is not a painting.

I really liked the next two. The first has a bit of Art Deco feel, at least to me. The background results in a kind of 3D effect.

The sky reminded me of Van Gogh’s Starry Night. I particularly liked how the guy’s long hair merges with the sky.

And now, for your surprise! This is a small exhibit calling for the elimination of native stereotypes in sports team names. Notice the shadow the piece projects onto the wall behind it.
