While it’s well-known that the Dawgs have scant regard for sportsmanship, I would say that they show a more important deficit every season. To paraphrase something Steve Jobs once said about Microsoft: the trouble with the Huskies is they have no taste. No Duck, No Shout!, no letting go of their high self-regard.
Warning, if anyone quotes the win-loss record since 1904 or whenever, I’ll quote the standings over the past 30 years and past 20 years. In other words, the ones relevant to any living fan. 😊
P.S. I was briefly in a band called Fresh Air. The keyboard player was Rob Roberts whose father was a tackle on the 1949 Ducks squad that suffered the severe injustice meted out by the Despicable Dawgs. A team photo of the Ducks taken that year at the Cotton Bowl hung on the wall at his home that the band faced when set up for practice. A constant reminder that (to borrow a phrase from the Longshore Union), an injustice to one (Duck) is an injustice to all (Ducks). Quack!
I was bemused to see, while gathering moving boxes in Aberdeen, WA, that there is a brand of Huskies Potatoes!
With the familiar purple dog head on the box, I scored a few for personal use! (Unfortunately, the potati themselves were not branded, so I was unable to see which were grown in the name of my Alma Mater! )
Perhaps Huskies are forming a new affront to Duck’s trampling and are now moving underground! I look forward to seeing the OR Ducks on a box of turnips!! Love, MEB
Was happy to attend the Ducks’ stomping of the Furskies. And for anyone that wants to know just how richly those woeful Woofinpuppies deserved it I offer this perspective: https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2018/10/12/17953206/oregon-washington-rivalry-history-1949-rose-bowl
Go Ducks!
