Isabella’s Inn

Isabella’s Inn

We like to stay at the Arizona Inn when we visit Tucson. There are some beautiful, modern resorts in the area, but we’re drawn to the old school vibe of the Inn.

A simple, home-like, cottage hotel, complete in its luxuries and convenience of service, and built with the desire to give its guests privacy, quiet and sunshine.

Isabella Greenway, Arizona Inn opening night, December 18th 1930

Isabella Selmes Ferguson Greenway King started life in the frozen badlands of North Dakota, entered high society in New York, spoke at the 1932 Democratic National Convention, and was one of Eleanor Roosevelt’s bridesmaids. Oh, and represented Arizona in Congress.

Besides running a 130,000 acre ranch, and starting an airline, Isabella found time to found and nurture the Arizona Inn. Over the decades, the Inn has played host to Hollywood stars, political leaders, and moguls. Of course, Ms. Roosevelt was a frequent visitor.

Let me share a few impressions. Want more? Book a visit for yourself.

Beautiful photos. We’ve lived in Arizona 7 years now, and you have been to far more places than we have.

Always delighted to follow you two in your travels, like a proverbial “third wheel, and “backseat passenger” that I am!

I am in Seattle at the moment—enjoying your travel tales, and wondering if this doesn’t somehow “even the score” of all the pointless stories that I have told you-pointedly-over the years!

(And I hope there’s more to come!)

love, MEB

Darrell

Either breakfast would be fine, thanks!
