Entr’acte

Entr’acte

We met friends at the Desert Botanical Gardens this evening. During a short walk before dinner, I saw a few things I never noticed before.

”Wavy” Bunny Ears cactus

Dove at rest

Blue cactus

Some cacti appear blue because of a waxy coating on their stems, not because they contain true blue pigment. This coating is called a glaucous or powdery wax layer, and it reflects and scatters light in a way that makes the plant look blue or blue‑green.

Ok, I looked up Entr’acte. First syllable En, in case you didn’t know how to pronounce.

I, too, had never seen the wavy cacti. Very cool.

Libby

The dove must have leather feet to choose to rest upon a cactus.
